Chapter Two
ESTIMATING VALUES & THE DECISION TO SELL In Chapter One we illustrated how a potential Seller can arrive at a realistic cost estimate for selling his home and moving. We used a $400,000 selling price as the starting point of our calculations. But how does our potential Seller arrive at an approximation of his home’s sale value? He must be reasonably accurate, in order to calculate an estimate of the net proceeds of a sale. It is from this calculation that he will determine if selling at this time is a prudent course of action. For preliminary decision purposes this is not only fairly easy, but also fun!
